ASSESSMENTS
As per N.J.S.A. 54:4-38.1, Property Tax Assessment postcards
for 2008 were sent to property owners on February 11, 2008. The assessment shown on this notice
represents the Assessment that will appear on the Municipal tax List for 2008.
The 2007 taxes listed on this card are not necessarily the
amount paid on the account. Please
verify this information with the Tax Collector’s Office.
Information regarding the appeal process appears on the back
of this notice. Forms and instructions
for filing an appeal may be obtained by contacting Cape May County Board of
Taxation (609) 465-1030. Assessment
appeals must be filed on or before April 1, 2008. All Municipal charges must be current for the

PROPERTY TAX DEDUCTIONS
Tax deductions and exemptions are granted only by provision
of the New Jersey Constitution or by general law. At present, deductions and exemptions granted
by constitutional provision concern property of war veterans and their
surviving spouses, senior citizens, disabled persons and their surviving
spouses.
Senior Citizens, Disabled
Persons, Surviving Spouses:
The New Jersey Constitution authorizes an annual
deduction from the real property taxes on a dwelling house owned and occupied
by a person 65 years of age or older or permanently and totally disabled; or
the qualified surviving spouse of a senior citizen or disabled person; where
annual income is $10,000 or less after permitted exclusions (N.J.S.A.54:4-8.40
et seq.).
To qualify for the annual $250.00 real property tax deduction
a claimant must meet requirements of citizenship, property ownership, residency,
income, timely application and age or disability or widowhood.

Veterans, Surviving Spouses of Veteran or service person:
The New Jersey Constitution
authorizes an annual deduction from the real property taxes levied on real and
personal property owned by qualified war veterans and their surviving spouses.
To qualify for the annual $250.00
real property tax deduction a claimant must meet requirements of citizenship,
residency, active wartime service in United States Armed Forces, honorable
discharge, real or personal property ownership, timely application and
surviving spouse where warranted.

NEW
PROPERTY TAX
RELIEF
PROGRAMS
Who is eligible: Homeowners age 65 or older, or receiving
Federal Social Security disability benefits,
and who paid property taxes on their principal residence in
must be NJ residents for at least 10 years, and living in
their current home for the
last 3 years. Applicants
must meet certain income limits for both the “base year”
(year applicant first became eligible) and the application
year.
What is the Benefit: Reimbursement of the difference
between the amount of property taxes paid in the
base year and the amount pair in the application year.
How to Apply: File Form PTR-1 (or Form PTR-2 if
reimbursement was received the previous year).
When to Apply: By
March 15
